SerpApi is the default answer when a developer asks for Google results as JSON. It parses more than a hundred search engines and verticals into a fixed schema, from plain Google web results to Flights, Scholar, Maps reviews and AI Overviews. The pricing page shows four plan cards and a free tier. That is about a third of the price list.
The numbers below were read from serpapi.com/pricing on October 1, 2026, including the plan data the page loads for its Enterprise tab and its speed toggles. Prices are monthly, in USD, and the page says month to month, cancel anytime. Check the live page before you commit, because SERP API pricing moves more often than most software.
All 13 SerpApi plans and the cost per 1,000 searches
The four cards most reviews quote are Starter, Developer, Production and Big Data. Behind the Enterprise tab sit nine more self serve plans with sign up links of their own, from Searcher at 725 USD to Cloud 50M at 98,325 USD. Cost per 1,000 is the plan fee divided by its searches.
| Plan | Per month | Searches | Per 1,000 searches | Searches per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 | 250 | 0 | 50 |
| Starter | 25 USD | 1,000 | 25.00 USD | 200 |
| Developer | 75 USD | 5,000 | 15.00 USD | 1,000 |
| Production | 150 USD | 15,000 | 10.00 USD | 3,000 |
| Big Data | 275 USD | 30,000 | 9.17 USD | 6,000 |
| Searcher | 725 USD | 100,000 | 7.25 USD | 20,000 |
| Volume | 1,475 USD | 250,000 | 5.90 USD | 50,000 |
| Infrastructure | 2,750 USD | 500,000 | 5.50 USD | 100,000 |
| Cloud 1M | 3,750 USD | 1,000,000 | 3.75 USD | 110,000 |
| Cloud 2M | 5,675 USD | 2,000,000 | 2.84 USD | 120,000 |
| Cloud 5M | 11,475 USD | 5,000,000 | 2.30 USD | 150,000 |
| Cloud 10M | 21,125 USD | 10,000,000 | 2.11 USD | 200,000 |
| Cloud 20M | 40,425 USD | 20,000,000 | 2.02 USD | 300,000 |
| Cloud 50M | 98,325 USD | 50,000,000 | 1.97 USD | 600,000 |
Two things stand out. The steepest drop is early: going from Starter to Production cuts the unit price from 25 to 10 USD. After Big Data the curve flattens until the Cloud plans, where it falls again by a third. And the hourly column is a real limit, not a footnote. Starter guarantees 200 successful searches an hour, so a batch of 1,000 keywords takes at least five hours to run.
What counts as a SerpApi search
Every successful request to any of its engines counts as one search, whatever comes back. SerpApi's own FAQ is clear that a response with 100 results and an empty one both count as 1. Cached, errored and failed searches are not counted, and repeating an identical query within the cache window returns the stored result for free.
Where this bites is pagination. Google stopped honoring the num=100 parameter in September 2025, so the top 100 for one keyword is now ten requests of 10 results each. A rank tracker that used to spend one search per keyword now spends ten. On Production that is the difference between 0.01 and 0.10 USD per keyword per check, and it is the main reason SEO tool prices moved after that change. The rank tracking API page has the depth table for that problem.
The same applies to every paginated vertical. Google Maps reviews come back 8 on the first page and up to 20 per page after that, so 1,000 reviews take about 50 searches. On Starter that is about 1.25 USD per 1,000 reviews. Our Google Reviews API page compares that with Google's own 5 review limit.
Unused searches do not roll over to the next month. If you run out early, Automatic Early Renewal refills the plan and starts a new billing cycle, which in practice means paying for the next month now.
Ludicrous Speed doubles the bill
Every plan has two faster variants, Ludicrous Speed and Ludicrous Speed Max. The search counts and hourly limits stay the same. The price does not:
| Plan | Standard | Ludicrous Speed | Ludicrous Speed Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter, 1,000 searches | 25 USD | 50 USD | 100 USD |
| Production, 15,000 | 150 USD | 300 USD | 600 USD |
| Searcher, 100,000 | 725 USD | 1,450 USD | 2,900 USD |
| Cloud 1M | 3,750 USD | 7,500 USD | 15,000 USD |
So the per 1,000 table above is a floor. A team that needs answers in a user facing product, an AI assistant waiting on search results before it replies, is likely to look at the speed toggle, and then Production costs 20 or 40 USD per 1,000 searches instead of 10. Batch jobs that run overnight do not need it.
Which plans include U.S. Legal Shield and ZeroTrace
SerpApi's U.S. Legal Shield promises up to 2 million USD of coverage for the scraping and parsing of search data, as long as your own use is legal. It is the feature enterprise buyers ask about most, and it is not on every plan. The plan data on the pricing page marks it off for Starter and Developer and on from Production, 150 USD, upward. If your legal team wants that coverage, your real entry price is 150 USD, not 25.
ZeroTrace mode, which stops SerpApi from storing your queries and results, and priority support start at Cloud 1M, 3,750 USD a month. Below that, your search parameters are kept on their side under the normal retention rules. For a company sending customer names or internal research topics as queries, that is a procurement question to raise early.
Real budgets on SerpApi and on flat per request pricing
Five monthly workloads, each priced on the cheapest standard SerpApi plan that covers it and the cheapest of our plans. Our plans count one successful request per results page at 0.98 USD per 1,000 on Starter, 0.60 on Growth and 0.33 on Scale, monthly billing.
| Monthly workload | Searches | SerpApi | Flat per request |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 keywords daily, top 10 | 15,000 | 150 USD, Production | 49 USD, Starter |
| 5,000 keywords weekly, top 10 | about 21,700 | 275 USD, Big Data | 49 USD, Starter |
| AI agent, 3,000 searches a day | 90,000 | 725 USD, Searcher | 149 USD, Growth |
| 1,000 keywords daily, top 100 | 300,000 | 2,750 USD, Infrastructure | 499 USD, Scale |
| 1,000,000 searches | 1,000,000 | 3,750 USD, Cloud 1M | 499 USD, Scale |
The gap is four to eight times on every row, and it widens once top 100 tracking enters the picture. That is the whole argument for flat per request pricing on Google results, which our SERP API page makes in more detail. It is not the whole argument for or against SerpApi, though, so here is the other side.
Where SerpApi is the right buy
Breadth of ready made parsers. If you need Google Flights, Hotels, Scholar, Patents, Shopping, Jobs, Trends, Apple App Store and Yelp in one schema family, SerpApi has a maintained parser for each. We give you ready made endpoints for search results, product pages and job listings on Growth, and you name the fields yourself for everything else.
Legal and compliance paperwork. The Legal Shield, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 reports and uptime SLAs up to 99.97 percent are what a procurement team at a large company asks for first. If that checklist decides the purchase, it is a real reason to pay the premium.
Tiny volume. 250 free searches a month cover a prototype, and the 25 USD Starter is half our entry price if you only ever run a few hundred searches.
Where flat per request pricing wins
Rank tracking at depth. Ten requests per keyword for a top 100 check multiplies any per search price by ten, and at SerpApi's rates that is the line item that sinks an agency's margin. At 0.33 to 0.98 USD per 1,000 results pages, a top 100 check costs under a cent per keyword.
Agents and products that search on every user action. Search volume in an AI product grows with users, not with your plan. A flat rate per page keeps the unit cost of an answer predictable, and the pages the agent goes on to read cost the same rate on the same key. If those results end up feeding a content calendar, an AI blog writer can turn the gaps you find into drafts, but the search data itself should not cost more than the article it informs.
Mixed workloads. Google results, competitor pages behind Cloudflare, product pages and news all bill at one rate here, so you do not run a SERP vendor and a scraping vendor side by side. If you are moving off a retiring Google product, the Custom Search API alternative page shows the parameter mapping.
The honest way to decide is to take a week of your real queries, count searches the way SerpApi counts them (pages, not keywords), and price both on our plans.
Questions buyers ask
How much does SerpApi cost per month? Starter is 25 USD for 1,000 searches, Developer 75 USD for 5,000, Production 150 USD for 15,000 and Big Data 275 USD for 30,000. Larger self serve plans run from Searcher at 725 USD for 100,000 to Cloud 50M at 98,325 USD. A free plan gives 250 searches a month.
How much does SerpApi cost per search? Between 2.5 cents on Starter and about 0.2 cents on Cloud 50M. Production works out at exactly 1 cent per search and Searcher at 0.725 cents. Ludicrous Speed doubles each of those and Ludicrous Speed Max quadruples them.
Does SerpApi charge for failed searches? No. Only successful searches count. Cached, errored and failed searches are free, and an empty result set from a successful search still counts as 1.
Do unused SerpApi searches roll over? No, searches reset at each renewal. When you downgrade, remaining searches move to an Extra Credits balance. Running out early triggers an optional early renewal rather than an overage rate.
Does SerpApi offer a refund? A full refund within 7 days of subscribing, as long as you have used no more than 20 percent of the plan's searches. Test on the free plan first so the trial does not eat into that.
Is SerpApi cheaper than Oxylabs or Bright Data for Google results? No, on list price. Oxylabs lists Google results at 1.00 USD per 1,000 on its 49 USD plan and Bright Data's SERP API starts at about 1 USD per 1,000, against 9.17 to 25 USD on SerpApi's card plans. The Oxylabs pricing breakdown covers how their per target rates add up.
